Web Design PDF Print E-mail

We construct a website quote based on how complex the execution of the project is, and also how long it will take. Attention to design detail is just part of the process.

A web design quote is mainly based on the size and complexity of the website, these being the two major factors which dictate how long the project will take. Below is a list of some things which increase the time involved to finish the project.

*Regardless of cost, all our websites are given complete attention to detail. All websites are designed to be search engine friendly and include; initial search engine submission, setting up your server (where your website lives), e.mail, and basically any other negotiations which may be necessary in setting up your web presence.

Here are some of the factors which affect the cost of a website:

  • Incorporating an eCommerce system, building shopping carts, and setting up credit card processing will always add to cost, though in my experience offering customers a secure way to pay for goods or services directly is money well spent. When this option is available, the website becomes more like a 24 hour store, as opposed to a mail order catalogue.

  • Forms are another element which can add a bit to an initial cost. If you're not familiar with forms, a glance at this page will show you. These are basically areas where the website owner can get needed information from visitors. Forms are being used these days as a simple communications page, instead of an e.mail link, because it lowers the chances of a spammer being able to extract your e.mail address from your site.

  • Web Galleries, pages which include multiple thumbnails which are linked to display pages, can add to time factor. This varies depending on how many galleries there are, the number of products in each gallery, and whether the client needs photos retouched or manipulated.

  • Self Editing is something which does add to the initial cost of a website, but can save money in that it allows the client to update certain areas of their own website, rather than paying to have this done. This works quite well for clients who have continually rotating text sections, like ingredient, event, or product lists.Your website can be set up to allow you to change pages directly from your browser (internet explorer, netscape, safari, firefox, etc.)
Though this option does add to the initial cost of a website (cost depends on how many pages will be set up in this manner) it can certainly save money over time as that it allows you to update certain areas of your website, rather than paying to have this done.

  • Size, in this case, matters. The larger a site is the more content needs to be accounted for, more pages need to be built, more buttons and title images need to be constructed, and etcetera. This all takes more time and so winds up costing more to produce.
